Update: BC Hydro reports power was restored to remaining customers in Peachland at 5:30 p.m.
Update: BC Hydro reports power was restored to customers in the 5,300 block of Princeton Avenue and 5800 block of McGregor Road at 4:12 p.m. and 4:14 p.m.
Update: Crew are now on site and power is estimated to be restored at 4:30 p.m.
BC Hydro crews are on their way to attend to 1,698 BC Hydro customers west of Highway 97 who have been without power since 10:50 a.m. this morning.
“It’s a pretty broad storm. Crews are working nearby so they’re finishing up their work there and then they’ll be heading over,” said Jen Walker-Larsen, BC Hydro community relations manager. “Crews still need to locate the problem so until crews get there won’t really have a good idea of what’s required to do the repair there.”
Environment Canada expects up to 15 cm of snow to fall in the Central Okanagan today. During these early storms in winter, especially when the leaves are on the trees, it does create problems with tree branches and trees coming down with the weight of the wet snow, Walker-Larsen said.
In addition to the outage west of Highway 97, fewer than five customers in the 5,300 block of Princeton Avenue and another small number of customers in the 5800 block of McGregor Road, have been with power since just after 2 p.m. this afternoon. No crew has been assigned yet to attend those outages.
