Sportsmen’s Association donates to Wellness Centre

Sportsmen’s Association Secretary Ann Carter, First Vice-President Chuck Clark
and President, Geoff Hartland, were at the Wellness Centre on Tuesday to give a
cheque to Wellness Centre President, Kym Martin and Executive Christina Macmaster.

The Peachland Sportsmen’s Association (PSA) is very well known in this community. Previous president, Al Springer, was one of the key people in the building of the Peachland Pier.

He developed fishing programs for people with disabilities and the pier was part of his vision of making that possible. The PSA was established in 1981 and has about 200 members. It has been involved in many community projects including protecting streams and planting trees. They value their hunter heritage and have a mission of responsible stewardship of the land and water for wildlife conservation.

Current president, Geoff Hartland, was at the Wellness Centre on Tuesday to hand over a cheque for $500. This donation came with the cooperation of the West Kelowna Warriors. Our local ice hockey team is also known by their old name — the Westside Warriors. They allow organizations to run the 50/50 draw at their games and use the proceeds. So the Warriors made it happen; the PSA did the work and the Wellness Centre gets help with their programs; a real win/win.
